This is a repost from why pod? writen by yours truley with my feelings on the poding subject.
IMO As I see it poder do it for a few resones and these are my feelings on these resones.
1. War, A very just reason for slaughtering your enemies.
2. Ransome, Well this door swings both ways, I've met many people who have been poded after paying ransomes so if you want infamy, keep your word and hunt down those who don't, otherwise ransome paying will just stop, not that I condone piracy, but if they don't pay up or at least try to if they don't have that kind of money, by all means blast thier ship to scrap.
3. "Fun", These charicters do this because they believe they have been wronged in some way and instead of dealing with thier problems they choose to bully. Many say they do it for hate mail or to ruin someones day. Well if your charicter intetionaly seek joy through someone else suffering your charicter is a sadist, if your charicter sees them as objects and not people they're hurting claiming it's "only a game", thats sociopathy. So these charicters are not to be fear but pitied for being the Ted Bundys of EVE by playing sociopathic sadistic serial killers who colect peoples corpses.
In short, you want to be more than just a random killer and make a realy name for yourself. The pirates I respect and fear most are ones I will E-mail and convo. And it won't be hate mail. They're the ones with the skill and class to take a ship without destroying or poding them, telling them to dump thier cargo and pay ransome. I applaud you at your enginuity and skill. It doesn't take much to blow up someones ship, but to hold them hostage at gunpoint and be a realy pirate that is something to be respected. Others, well I don't even care if they pod me, I don't get mad, I just move on with my day realizing that this will upset them more than any hate mail ever could. Mind you if you are playing a sociopath or a sadist, cudos to you for playing it, but lets call a spade a spade and not sully real pirates names by lumping them in with these murdering psycos. |
